Beginner Hatha yoga classes
In beginner Hatha classes we learn to perform asanas (body postures) precisely and properly from an anatomical point of view. Besides, simple pranayama exercises (breathing exercises) are taught.
Although, the method of Hatha yoga is similar to that of the Spine yoga and the asana start with the physical level, the goal of yoga is not only to recover the body but also to clear energetic blocks and experience more refined senses by acquiring asanas. Through this the mind opens up to more subtle experiencing.
Controlling breathing (pranayama exercises) is the same. As breathing has a direct impact on the nervous system and the mental processes, a lot of blocks and barriers that the person considered integral part of their personality can be removed with good breathing technique. With the elimination of such mental barriers, concepts and ideas about ourselves- based on societal impressions- one can get closer to their real self as they stop identifying with those false mental pictures. Thus, we are able to control our actions and we are not exposed to our subconscious drives, inclinations and conditioning any more.
